SERVE has always been at the heart of our community when it comes to volunteers. As social distancing and isolation measures increase, we continue to coordinate essential shopping trips for vulnerable adults who would otherwise be left without food and medical supplies.
We have seen a significant increase in volunteers during the outbreak so far, but we need more! If you can spare some to help we would love to hear from you.
All of our services are being provided in line with requirements for social distancing and infection control, including our volunteer shopping.
Simply contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
We will email you an application form, and you will need to provide two character referees. We will then carry out a telephone interview, and if successful you will need to provide a photo and to sign our volunteer agreement and privacy form.
Our Home Care service helps people to continue living happily in their own home, providing personal care such as washing and dressing, administering medication and preparing food.
Equally important are the social interactions and professional relationships you will build.
No experience is necessary, as we offer full training. If you are a caring person with a professional outlook, can work independently and manage your own time, we would love to hear from you.
Shifts are available between 7:00am and 10:00pm. Because Home Carers work in other peoples’ homes, you will need a full driving licence and access to a car for work purposes. You will also require an enhanced DBS check.
Please feel free to contact us for an informal chat about the role before applying.
Whether you're an experienced Trustee or wanting to take your first step at Board level, we want to hear from you irrespective of age, ethnicity or background.
The Board of Directors of SERVE are also Trustees of the charity. The Board is responsible for setting the strategy and policies of SERVE, and guides and supports the CEO and other staff. As a Trustee you will have opportunities to help make strategic decisions, develop new skills and network with senior professionals and Trustees of other charities.
Board meetings are usually held every two months, generally on a Wednesday between 6:30 and 8:30pm. The expected time commitment is six Trustee meetings per year and occasional ad hoc committee work.
If you are interested and have skills in social care, law, marketing or press & media, we would love to hear from you. To find out more, or for an informal chat and to discuss your suitability, please contact our Chair of Trustees Alan Armson on 01933 318280 or at email@example.com.
To apply, please submit an expression of interest in the form of a brief summary of experience and outline what you would bring to SERVE. The deadline for expressions of interest is 31st March 2020.
Do you have a free day?
Do you enjoy day outings at local country pubs?
If the answer to these questions is "yes" then you could make a difference!
As one of our volunteer minibus drivers you'll find volunteering rewarding, whilst enjoying visiting Northamptonshire's beauty spots. We pay for your lunch expenses.
For other volunteering opportunities please see below.
There are plenty of worthwhile and rewarding opportunities at SERVE, some of which are listed below. You can volunteer as much or as little time as you want (1 or 2 days a week or every day, half days or full days… It’s up to you!) Uniform and expenses are provided according to the role. If you would like further information or an informal chat please get in touch.
Volunteer drivers are always welcome for our Community Transport Scheme! As a driver you will pick up clients and take them to medical appointments at doctors, hospitals, opticians, dentists and the like. Escorting clients door to door, you will provide a hugely valuable service that will have a direct impact on the health of local residents, who might otherwise not be able to make their appointments.
Our minibus drivers take people on day trips to a wide variety of locations, from the seaside to shopping centres and pub lunches. Lunch, drinks and a uniform are provided. Our day trips combat social isolation, help people make new friends and see new places, and are a lot of fun!
As an assistant in our mobility shop, you will help to sell items of bought or donated stock, update databases, make good donated items, take payments, and support customers to find what they are looking for.
Volunteering at the Ron Manning Day and Activity Centre is a rewarding experience, with opportunities to help supporting clients, preparing meals, and administration.
Do you have a sympathetic ear and a caring nature? Could you spend around 2 hours per week visiting isolated elderly and frail adults at home? If so, our partner charity NVCA would love to hear from you. Please contact us in the usual way.
