Our Home Care service helps people to continue living happily in their own home, providing personal care such as washing and dressing, administering medication and preparing food.
Equally important are the social interactions and professional relationships you will build.
No experience is necessary, as we offer full training. If you are a caring person with a professional outlook, can work independently and manage your own time, we would love to hear from you.
Shifts are available between 7:00am and 10:00pm. Because Home Carers work in other peoples’ homes, you will need a full driving licence and access to a car for work purposes. You will also require an enhanced DBS check.
Please feel free to contact us for an informal chat about the role before applying.
There are plenty of worthwhile and rewarding opportunities at Serve, some of which are listed below. You can volunteer as much or as little time as you want (1 or 2 days a week or every day, half days or full days… It’s up to you!) Uniform and expenses are provided according to the role. If you would like further information or an informal chat please get in touch.
Volunteer drivers are always welcome for our Community Transport Scheme! As a driver you will pick up clients and take them to medical appointments at doctors, hospitals, opticians, dentists and the like. Escorting clients door to door, you will provide a hugely valuable service that will have a direct impact on the health of local residents, who might otherwise not be able to make their appointments.
Our minibus drivers take people on day trips to a wide variety of locations, from the seaside to shopping centres and pub lunches. Lunch, drinks and a uniform are provided. Our day trips combat social isolation, help people make new friends and see new places, and are a lot of fun!
Our tea room provides valuable income for the charity, as well as being a great venue for wellbeing activities and acting as a community hub. As a volunteer tea room assistant you will serve customers, clear tables and keep worktops clean, prepare sandwiches and other light dishes, wash up and empty the dishwasher, and take payments. Full training is provided.
As an assistant in our mobility shop, you will help to sell items of bought or donated stock, update databases, make good donated items, take payments, and support customers to find what they are looking for.
Volunteering at the Ron Manning Day and Activity Centre is a rewarding experience, with opportunities to help supporting clients, preparing meals, and administration.
Do you have a sympathetic ear and a caring nature? Could you spend around 2 hours per week visiting isolated elderly and frail adults at home? If so, our partner charity NVCA would love to hear from you. Please contact us in the usual way.
